About Me

My name is Beth Oualline (pronounced wall-EEN), and I am SO EXCITED to be a Bonita Bearcat! I was born and raised in South Texas (Corpus Christi area). I have a B.A. in English from Texas A&M University (Whoop!). I also have an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.A. in English, both from Sam Houston State University. In the summer of 2019, I moved halfway across the country to CALIFORNIA for my husband’s new job opportunity. This is quite the adventure for a lifelong Texan, but so far, I am loving Southern California!

----------

I met my husband, Jason, while at Texas A&M. We have been married for 20 years and have an 18-year-old daughter named Bayleigh. Jason a professor and the chair of the BFA Game Art major at Laguna College of Art and Design, and Bayleigh is beginning her college career at Grand Canyon University this year.

----------

In eighteen years as an educator, I have taught all levels of English, though most of my teaching experience is with AP English Language (junior) and AP English Literature (senior). I have also taught undergraduate- and graduate-level writing courses at Laguna College of Art and Design for the past five years. At my previous schools, I have had a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities: I coached Varsity Cheerleading, SkillsUSA Quiz Bowl, and Academic UIL Journalism, Ready Writing, and Literary Criticism, and I have served as a Class Council Sponsor. I feel quite privileged to be a part of the Bonita family and am looking forward to an outstanding school year! #AwwYeahBearcats
