About Me

My name is Beth Oualline (pronounced wall-EEN), and I am SO EXCITED to be a Bonita Bearcat! I was born and raised in South Texas (Corpus Christi area). I have a B.A. in English from Texas A&M University (Whoop!). I also have an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and an M.A. in English, both from Sam Houston State University. This summer, I moved halfway across the country to CALIFORNIA for my husband’s new job opportunity. This is quite the adventure for a lifelong Texan, but so far, I am loving Southern California!

I met my husband, Jason, while at Texas A&M. We have been married for 17 years and have a beautiful 15-year-old daughter named Bayleigh. Jason is an Animation and Game Design professor at Laguna College of Art and Design, and Bayleigh is a sophomore at BHS.

In thirteen years as an educator, I have taught all levels of English, though most of my teaching experience is with AP Language (junior) and senior AP Literature (senior) English. At my previous schools, I also had a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities: I coached Varsity Cheerleading, SkillsUSA Quiz Bowl, and Academic UIL Journalism, Ready Writing, and Literary Criticism, and I have served as a Student Council Sponsor. I feel quite privileged to be a part of the Bonita family, and I am looking forward to an outstanding school year! #AwwYeahBearcats
