“WHAT’S NEW”
ATTENTION JUNIORS REGISTERED FOR THE MARCH SAT- students who registered for the on-campus SAT in March (you would have received an email) must attend a pre-administration meeting in the New Gym on Friday, Feb 19th during intervention, period 5. Important information for the SAT must be completed at this time.
SENIORS- Azusa Pacific University will be holding an “On-the-Spot Admissions” event on Tuesday, March 1st during Intervention/Lunch. Why should you come? The Essay requirement is waived, no application fee, Admitted students get a Certificate and PIZZA will be provided! “BHS NEWS”
SENIORS- Mt. Sac’s Connect 4 Workshops are happening soon in the Library. The first workshop will be on Thursday, February 17th during 7th period or for an hour after school (for those with a 7th period class). BRING YOUR CHROMEBOOK! These workshops are required to be part of the Promise Program at Mt Sac. Please attend if you are planning on attending Mt Sac or you need a back-up college option! See attachment for further details and the subsequent dates.

Costs: Individual Tickets are $10.00 per person. Group tickets of 15 or more people are $7.00 per person.

Who will be in attendance?
- Over 50 of the 104 HBCU’s along with other public colleges, private colleges, ivy leagues, baby ivies, and even military colleges
What to Expect (for most but not all schools in attendance)
- On the spot college acceptance and scholarship offers for those who qualify
- College application fees waived
- Live seminars for student athletes, how to find money for college, and benefits of attending an HBCU
What students should do to prepare?
- Research schools that will be in attendance and the majors they offer
- Brining copies of current transcript (at least 15 are recommended)
- Bringing copies of ACT/SAT scores (some schools still require them)
- Dress to impress
STUDENTS- Our first ever Spring Fling – Carnival de Bonita is coming on Friday, February 25th from 6-9pm! This will be a casual dance with a DJ and dancing, food, and a festival with booths and games on campus. It’s kind of like Homecoming but more casual. The cost is $20 with ASB and $30 without. Tickets are on sale now, and prices will increase after February 11th! Permission slips are available in the front office. You must have a permission slip completed before you can buy a ticket.
PARENTS/STUDENTS- Bonita USD has again partnered with Paper – this means students in grades 3 -12 now have access to on-demand, high-quality academic support 24/7. Through Paper, students can speak to a tutor anytime, anywhere for free. Students already have access through Clever, https://clever.com/in/busd. See attached memo.
STUDENTS AND PARENTS- Our Peer Tutoring Hours are Monday – Thursday 2:45pm – 3:45pm (1:45pm – 2:45pm on Compact Days) in the Library AND Monday – Thursday 6:00pm – 7:00pm Via ZOOM!!
NO APPOINTMENTS NEEDED!!! Just show up!!!

PARENTS- Our updated school calendar is attached. Parent conferences will now take place on March 8th and we will have a minimum day on March 9th. We will move the currently scheduled minimum day on February 28th to March 9th, therefore there will no longer be a minimum day on February 28th.
STUDENTS- if you need Free Tax Help, the Accounting students can help. See Mrs. Sekhri in Room 906.
“SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS”
SENIORS- The La Verne Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2022 scholarship program is open for applications. Through the generosity of the members there will be over $5,000 to distribute this year.
The eligibility requirements have been updated this year to include 2022 graduating seniors whose primary residence is in La Verne or attend High School in the City of La Verne. Please see the application attached with all the information.

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY– The Latino & Latina Roundtable of the San Gabriel & Pomona Valleys have established a $500 scholarship for students that plan to attend a university or community college, and have interests in social consciousness and activism. Please see the ATTACHED SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION for more details. Deadline is March 1, 2022.
“CAREER CENTER”
10th – 12th GRADE STUDENTS- The ASVAB Career Exploration exam will be administered on Friday, February 18th. If you have signed up to take it, report to the Library first period that morning. Be sure to pick up a Permission Slip from the Career Center and return it before test day.
“BHS ATHLETICS”
PARENTS- Athletic event tickets will all be sold ONLINE only. You can purchase your tickets from www.gofan.co and look up Bonita High School events. Tickets will be redeemed on your electronic device at the gate/entrance by our staff member. You will need to show the actual ticket not a screen shot or picture.
