At Bonita High School, we are extremely pleased and proud to present Deanna Bowman as our 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Bowman is an outstanding teacher who provides the highest quality education for her students, inside the classroom and beyond.
In her classes, Mrs. Bowman consistently provides her students with engaging and rigorous learning opportunities. She challenges her students to utilize critical thinking and encourages the use of problem solving. Her level of preparation before stepping into the classroom can be seen in her extended use of technology which provide excellent opportunities for her students. She is known to create a learning environment that is safe and challenging, with accountability for all students. While her teaching practice is sound, she consistently evaluates her instruction to better each and every learning opportunity.
Mrs. Bowman proves to be a role model to all through her professionalism, commitment, enthusiasm and expertise. Her students look to her not only to provide instruction in the classroom, but to demonstrate a positive attitude in life. She exemplifies qualities that students can emulate as they grow to become strong members of the community. She is also a leader among teachers on campus and demonstrates a positive approach to daily commitments and challenges.
In addition to her outstanding performance in the classroom, Mrs. Bowman sets an excellent example of leadership and dedication to teaching in many other ways. She is our Sophomore class advisor as well as a highly qualified technology coach on campus. She has also taken on the role of WASC focus group leader, which requires a great deal of time and energy. Her level of professionalism in each of these roles exceeds expectations on a consistent basis.
Mrs. Bowman is a person that is highly respected by all that know her. She is an excellent teacher, a respected leader, and an exceptional addition to our Bonita family. We are honored to have her represent Bonita High School as our Teacher of the Year.
