“WHAT’S NEW”

 

FREE TAX HELP BY ACCOUNTING STUDENTSStudents if you need Free Tax Help, the Accounting students can help. Go to bonitahigh.net or Email Ms. Sekhri at m.sekhri@bonita.k12.ca.us for additional information.

 

PRE-REGISTRATION- Students in grades 9-11 will be receiving by email their pre-registration packet for next year’s classes on Thursday, January 28; Electives Rush will take place on Friday, January 29.  All students will be selecting classes through their Aeries portal and by completing a Google form.  Pre-registration must be completed by 11:59 PM, Thursday, February 4 – late registrants will be placed on a wait list for over-subscribed classes.  All students will meet with their counselors during one of their English classes to review their selections; juniors will begin their meetings starting February 12; sophomores starting February 22 and freshmen starting March 8.

 

MT SAC OPEN HOUSE EVENT- available Thursday, February 17 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. To register go to: http://bit.ly/springopenhouse2021 This event is intended to highlight why we are one of the top 10 California colleges, while providing information about enrollment, summer programs, and their connection to Promise + Plus ( Our version of the California Promise Program).

CASH FOR COLLEGE EVENT- available Saturday, February 20. To register or view the event agenda go to:  https://www.mtsac.edu/financialaid/cashfair.html. This event will provide an overview of how to complete the FAFSA and/or CADA financial aid applications. Attendees may also participate in a scholarship workshop, live Q&A session, and a virtual fair highlighting several of our student support programs. Open to any graduating senior regardless of college of choice. 

FINANCIAL AID FRIDAYS- Friday, starting Friday, February 26 from 1:00-2:00pm. To attend go to bit.ly/fafridays  Live assistance for graduating seniors needing additional support completing their FAFSA or CADA.

OUTREACH VIRTUAL HELP CENTER- every Tuesday, starting Tuesday, March 23 to Tuesday, June 29 http://bit.ly/hsocenter The High School Outreach team will be available to assist graduating seniors with any Mt. SAC related questions such as: enrollment, Connect 4, how-to, financial aid, and more!

 

“ADDITIONAL BHS NEWS”

 

STUDENTS INTERESTED IN BOYS TENIIS/GIRLS TENNIS- The first day of tennis conditioning will be Monday, February 8th at 3pm on the tennis courts.  All athletes must be cleared with a physical on file and a completed registration at athleticclearance.com.  If you have any questions, please email Darren Baumunk at d.baumunk@bonita.k12.ca.us.

 

LIBRARY BOOK RETURNS/EXCHANGES- The library will be closed from Monday, February 25th– Friday, February 29th. If you are in need of a book exchange or return, please call the front office at 909-971-8220 to arrange a pick up and drop off time.

LA VERNE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 2021 SCHOLARSHIP- is for graduating seniors whose primary residence is La Verne, CA who will be attending a vocational/technical school, a Community College or four-year college or university.  Please see attached flyer for all the information.  The deadline for receipt of application and transcripts is March 26, 2021; 1:00 PM

 

CITRUS COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOPS FOR SENIORS- will be taking place January 28th and 29th. January 28th will be for Last Names A-L from 1:30-2:30pm. January 29th will be for Last Names M-Z from 1:30 to 2:30pm. VIRTUAL COLLEGE FAIR- The College Board is sponsoring a virtual college fair (Big Future Days) on Saturday, February 6, for colleges in the west and southwest region (other areas of the country later).  Please visit cb.org/bigfuturedays and see the attached flier.  Students will be able to connect directly with college admissions representatives during an online Q&A chat and obtain college planning resources.

 

JANUARY PSAT EXAM- Because of the Covid-19 restrictions in place, we will not be able to offer the PSAT examination on campus this month.  The March SAT for juniors is still on hold until we have more information from the LA Dept. of Health.

 

SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENTS- Next month, we have Lincolns Birthday (February 8th) and Presidents Birthday (February 15th) that fall on a Monday. Since we do not have school on these Mondays, the schedule below is what we will be using for the weeks of February 8th and February 15th.

Monday: No School 

Tuesday: Periods 1-3, 8:00-12:35, No Differentiated Instruction in afternoon

Wednesday: Periods 4-6, 8:00-12:35, No Differentiated Instruction in afternoon

Thursday: Periods1-3, 8:00-12:35, Differentiated Instruction in afternoon required

Friday: Periods 4-6, 8:00-12:35, Differentiated Instruction in afternoon required

 

 

DONATE YOUR UNWANTED ITEMS TO THE BAND PROGRAM-

Donate your unwanted stuff to help out the Band program! It’s a Win‐Win! You get rid of what you don’t need and we earn needed funds! We are collecting the following items: SHOES (all types, all ages), clothing, hats, belts, purses, totes, backpacks, jackets, table linens, gently used comforters and even stuffed animals! You can drop off donations every Saturday from now until Feb 13th from 1‐3 pm at Bonita’s teacher parking lot at D Street and 11th Street. We will also be collecting CRV glass, aluminum, and plastic at these drop-offs. Thanks for the support!

 

GOBEARCATS.ORG- There are currently no winter sports being played. We will give updates as we receive them from CIF and post updates on our sports website. Once sports resume, you will also be able to find try out information, schedules, rosters and game results on this website as well.
