STUDENTS

SENIORS-  Please turn in your Senior Contract to Ms. Castro’s office by today, Tuesday, October 15th, failure to turn in Contract will result in a Saturday School.

SENIORS- The 2020 Young Legislators Program is open to high school seniors living in the 41st Assembly District. Applicants must commit to five monthly, 3-4 hour Saturday meetings starting in January 2020 and submit applications by November 13, 2019.  PSAT- The list of students registered for the PSAT is posted on the Attendance Office window with the location noted.  Students should confirm to see they are registered – no student will be permitted to sit if not on the list.   Students may pick up a Student Guide to the PSAT in the attendance office. The PSAT exam will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, October 16, at 7:40 AM – 11th graders in the New Gym; grades 9/10 in the Old Gym.

STUDENTS- Do you need a little extra help with any of you classes or a study buddy to keep you focused? Then after school peer tutoring is for you! Tutoring is available for free in the Library after school from 2:45-3:45 Monday through Thursdays as well as Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm. Just show up and get the support you need. Tutoring begins October 7th.

STUDENTS- Mt SAC has free tutoring in Math & Science, Monday-Thursdays from 5:00-7:00pm.  Please call the Mt. SAC office at  (909) 274-4937 or see Mrs. Venegas at the front desk for more details.

SENIORS AND JUNIORS-  Are you considering attending a college out of state and wish to learn more about some of the options? Bonita counselors are accompanying a limited amount of students to an Out of State College Fair in Diamond Bar on Tuesday, Oct. 22nd. The bus departs at 8:00 am and it will be returning to school before noon. Space is limited, so if you are interested, please see Mrs. Nix as soon as possible to pick up a permission slip.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS & PARENTS/ SAT  PREP CLASS- The course will be held every Tuesday evening from 6-9pm starting October 15th through December 3rd.

PARENTS

PARENTS-We wanted to let everyone know that a film crew from the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE) will be on campus on Wednesday, Oct 16. They are creating a video about the work of schools across the state with foster youth, and the video will be featuring a Bonita High graduate who is now attending college. As part of the video, they would like to get background footage of Bonita High School. The video will not include images of individual student faces, and no students will be interviewed.

PARENTS-  Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place Wednesday, October 30th, from 12:40 – 8:00 PM.  These are 10-minute time slots that will give you an opportunity to get an update on your child’s progress in each class.   Please visit www.bonitahigh.net to find the link to book your on-line appointment, or call Mrs. Nix at 909-971-8220 x2054.

PARENTS AND STUDENTS- Notice of Video and Audio Recording Devices on School Buses-In order to ensure the safety of our students, employees, and parent volunteers riding on our school buses, Bonita USD will implement its new video recording system on all District buses starting October 21, 2019. PARENTS- We do not accept drop off or forgotten items in the front office and are unable to make exceptions. If you need to get an item to your Student, please coordinate with your child to meet in the front office during break or lunch. We will not be able to make exceptions. We appreciate your understanding.

PARENTS OF SENIORS-  If you would like to purchase a Senior Ad for the yearbook visit www.TheYearbookCompany.com.  Space is limited.  Early bird prices are until November 15th then prices go up.  Final day for placing an order is December 13th.  Thank you for supporting the yearbook.

CAREER CENTER

SENIORS- Are you interested in pursuing a career in the COSMETOLOGY, NURSING, or AUTOMOTIVE Field? Citrus College is hosting informational sessions for these specific career fields to provide information on enrollment, financial aid, and much more! Please see attached flyers for further details and dates. Please email  tdouglas@citruscollege.edu to register.

TUTORS- The after school tutoring program is looking for students to be tutors Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. If you are interested in applying see Mrs. O’Grady in the Career Center.

UNIVERSITY OF REDLANDS- will be in the Career Center on October 24th. Please see Mrs. O’Grady in the Career Center to sign up.

AFRICAN AMERICAN 9th – 12th GRADE STUDENTS-   College and Career Readiness Summit will be taking place Sunday, October 27th from 1 PM-5:30 PM  at The Village at Indian Hill Conference Center. This is free for high school students. Highlights include: Scholarships on the spot; college application and personal statement assistance; workshops for college and career planning; exploration of our nation’s HBCUs…and more! Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend – See attached flyer for registration information. Must register by Tuesday, October 15th!

ACTIVITIES

MARCHING BEARCATS-  are having their next Family Dinner Night at Chipotle in La Verne from 4-8pm today, October 15th.  Please bring a copy of the flyer or show it on your phone.

PTSA E WASTE- Event on Saturday October 19th, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM in the Bonita High School Staff Parking Lot.  They will only accept computers (PCs, Laptops) and Televisions (CRT, LCD & Plasma). There will also be shredding (off site) for $5 a bankers box.

HOMECOMING PERMISSION SLIPS- Permission slips for Homecoming are available today in the front office.  Your permission slip will need to be completed and signed off by the library and administration before you can buy tickets.  Tickets are currently on sale in the finance office. Tickets are $55 with an ASB card, and $60 without (3% will be added to all tickets purchased with credit card) until October 18th. Permission slips must be cleared with the library and Mrs. Lindsay’s office in order to be considered complete and cleared to buy tickets.

HOMECOMING- will be at the Discovery Cube in Santa Ana on October 26th from 7 to 11 PM.  Tickets include admission to the dance. Transportation and food is not provided.

ATHLETICS

SPORTS PHYSICALS- will take place on October 22nd at 3:00 PM in the athletic training office. Please print the CIF physical form and health history completed with the parent/ athlete signature. Physicals will be $25 per student athlete.
