NO SCHOOL FRIDAY OCTOBER 4TH

STUDENTS

SENIORS- Do you need help filling out the FAFSA Application? Citrus College is Hosting a CASH FOR COLLEGE Event where parents and students will receive one-on-one support from financial aid representatives. See attached flyer for further information.

STUDENTS- Do you need a little extra help with any of you classes or a study buddy to keep you focused? Then after school peer tutoring is for you! Tutoring is available for free in the Library after school from 2:45-3:45 Monday through Thursdays as well as Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6-7pm. Just show up and get the support you need. Tutoring begins October 7th.

STUDENTS-  Mt Sac Adult Basic Education is offering a free SAT & ACT Workshop for Math. Dates are Tuesday & Thursday, October 8-24th.  See attached flier for details.

STUDENTS- Mt Sac has free tutoring in Math & Science, Monday-Thursdays from 5:00-7:00pm.  See attached flier for details.  

SENIORS AND JUNIORS-  Are you considering attending a college out of state and wish to learn more about some of the options? Bonita counselors are accompanying a limited amount of students to an Out of State College Fair in Diamond Bar on Tuesday, Oct. 22nd. The bus departs at 8:00 am and it will be returning to school before noon. Space is limited, so if you are interested, please see Mrs. Nix as soon as possible to pick up a permission slip.

 PSAT- Students who have registered for the PSAT may pick up a Student Guide in the attendance office.  The guide contains important information about the PSAT and a mock exam for you to practice.  The PSAT exam will occur on campus on Wednesday, October 16, in both gyms.  More information to follow.

JUNIORS AND SENIORS & PARENTS/ SAT  PREP CLASS- The course will be held every Tuesday evening from 6-9pm starting October 15th through December 3rd.

REMINDER-  All students need to be in class on time.  Students will receive a detention on their 4th tardy to any period.  After the 5th tardy, a Saturday School will be issued.  All Saturday Schools must be cleared prior to purchasing Homecoming Tickets.

PARENTS

PARENTS AND STUDENTS-  College Night will take place on Monday, October 14, at various locations on campus.  Please see the attached flyer for information about the sessions.  This information will be especially helpful for seniors & juniors and their parents.

PARENTS- As a reminder, please make sure you are not dropping off Students in the staff parking lot or parking in staff parking spaces.

PARENTS- Friday, October 4th there will be no school as it is a Student free day at BHS.

PARENTS- We do not accept drop off or forgotten items in the front office and are unable to make exceptions. If you need to get an item to your Student, please coordinate with your child to meet in the front office during break or lunch. We will not be able to make exceptions. We appreciate your understanding.

PARENTS OF SENIORS-  If you would like to purchase a Senior Ad for the yearbook visit www.TheYearbookCompany.com.  Space is limited.  Early bird prices are until November 15th then prices go up.  Final day for placing an order is December 13th.  Thank you for supporting the yearbook.

 

CAREER CENTER

SENIORS- Are you interested in pursuing a career in the COSMETOLOGY, NURSING, or AUTOMOTIVE Field? Citrus College is hosting informational sessions for these specific career fields to provide information on enrollment, financial aid, and much more! Please see attached flyers for further details and dates.

TUTORS- The after school tutoring program is looking for students to be tutors Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. If you are interested in applying see Mrs. O’Grady in the Career Center.

SCRIPPS COLLEGE- A reps from Scripps College and University of Arizona will be here Wednesday during 7th period to speak with interested students. Next week a rep from UC Santa Barbara and Mt.SAC will be here. Go to the Career Center for info.

NAVY- A rep from the Navy will be on campus during lunch this Thursday (10/3)

NROTC SCHOLARSHIP- Tuesday, October 8th there will be a NROTC Scholarship presentation in the career center. You may attend either 6th or 7th periods. The NROTC Scholarship covers FULL tuition including books and a monthly allowance. Sign up in the career center to learn more.

AFRICAN AMERICAN 9th GRADE— 12th GRADE STUDENTS-   College and Career Readiness Summit will be taking place Sunday, October 27th from 1 PM-5:30 PM  at The Village at Indian Hill Conference Center. This is free for high school students. Highlights include: Scholarships on the spot; college application and personal statement assistance; workshops for college and career planning; exploration of our nation’s HBCUs…and more! Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend – See attached flyer for registration information

FAFSA WORKSHOP- Get FREE help filling out your financial aid application! High school seniors and parents are encouraged to attend this event to obtain assistance with completing the FAFSA/CA Dream Act Application. Staff will assist students and parents in a group setting. ACTIVITIES

WRESTLING FUNDRAISER- Come out and support the wrestling team on Monday, October 7th at The Habit in La Verne. Show the flyer anytime between 4-9:00 pm and the wrestling team will receive a percentage of the total purchase. Thank you for supporting our athletes!

HOMECOMING PERMISSION SLIPS- Permission slips for Homecoming are available today in the front office.  Your permission slip will need to be completed and signed off by the library and administration before you can buy tickets.  Tickets are currently on sale in the finance office. Tickets will be $50 with an ASB card, and $55 without (3% will be added to all tickets purchased with credit card). Prices will increase on Monday, October 7th, so be sure to buy your tickets early and get your permission slips cleared. Permission slips must be cleared with the library and Mrs. Lindsay’s office in order to be considered complete and cleared to buy tickets.

HOMECOMING- will be at the Discovery Cube in Santa Ana on October 26th from 7 to 11 PM.  Tickets include admission to the dance. Transportation and food is not provided.

 

ATHLETICS

CURRENT WRESTLERS AND INCOMING POTENTIAL WRESTLERS-  Big weekend for the wrestling team. This Saturday, October 5th from 8-11 am, Coach Sandmark is hosting a clinic in the wrestling room. It is open to everyone and free of charge. Great opportunity to get some early instruction in! Also on Sunday, October 6th we are having the very first Bonita Wrestling Bowling Tournament! Come on out to Chaparral Lanes in San Dimas at 1 pm and join in the festivities! All wrestlers and their families are invited! We will bowl a couple of games and spend some time hanging out having some fun! Cost is $15 per person. Please RSVP to Coach Froh with how many will be bowling if you are planning on joining us!

SOFTBALL- There will be a meeting today during 2nd lunch, October 3rd for all returning and incoming players.
