STUDENTS 

JUNIOR STUDENTS AND PARENTS- Are you interested in improving your SAT score? We will be hosting a Kaplan SAT Prep Class this Summer in preparation for the August 24th SAT Exam. See the attached flyer for details. Space is limited to the first 30 students and must be paid to the finance office by Tuesday May 21st.

AP EXAMS-  A reminder that AP exams are taking place this week.  Please see the attached handout for schedule and details about the exams.  Afternoon exams are scheduled to begin at 12:00 noon.  Please be aware that the afternoon exams could end as late as 4:00 PM – students cannot be dismissed early.

STUDENTS- Preordering Yearbook deadline has passed. A limited amount of yearbooks will be on sale on the day of distribution (May 28th & 29th) for $120 cash only.  For Students inquiring if they purchased a yearbook at registration, a list will be posted to the front office windows.

STUDENTS- We are no longer selling parking permits. Our Student parking lot is now full.

SENIOR STUDENTS- There are many scholarship opportunities available to Seniors. Please see the attached Scholarship Newsletter for the many available options as well as links to other sites offering help to find additional scholarships.

 

PARENTS

PARENTS- May 20th and May 22nd-23rd will be minimum days. Students will be released at 12 PM. There will also be no school on May 27th for Memorial Day.

PARENTS- As a reminder, the Finance Office is only accepting cash, credit, and debit thru the remainder of the school year. Checks will not be accepted. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience.

PARENTS- We do not accept drop off or forgotten items in the front office. If you need to get an item to your Student, please coordinate with your child to meet in the front office during break or lunch. We will not be able to make exceptions. We appreciate your understanding.

 

CAREER CENTER

STUDENTS-.The after school tutoring program has ended for the year.

STUDENTS- Please see Mrs. O’Grady in the Career Center to pick up work permits, tutor applications and sign up for college presentations during intervention and lunch.

ACTIVITIES

BHS CONCERT BAND AND WIND ENSEMBLE-The Bonita High School Concert Band and Wind Ensemble are proud to present “A Night at the Movies” on Thursday May 16th at the Bonita Center for the Arts at 7pm.  These ensembles will be performing your favorites from movies like The Greatest Showman, Willy Wonka, Harry Potter, Star Wars and a medley of Disney hits all synced up with your favorite movie scenes.  Admission is free, so come out and support these amazing groups!

GRADUATION- will take place on Thursday, June 6th at 6 PM at Citrus College stadium in Glendora.  Parking gates will open at 4 PM and stadium gates will open at 5 PM.  Each graduate will receive 6 complementary tickets along with one parking pass upon senior checkout on May 31st.  Additional tickets and parking passes will be sold at the Finance office for $5 per ticket starting May 31st until June 6th at 12 PM. Tickets will not be sold at the door of the stadium. It is recommended to purchase additional parking passes in advance as well since there is only one available parking kiosk on site.

PROM- Join us for an enchanted evening at the Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach on Saturday, May 25th. Ticket are on sale Monday, May 13th  thru Tuesday May 21st for $85 with ASB and $90 without ASB or guest tickets. To purchase a guest ticket please make sure both the BHS Student and the guest Student have cleared permission slips (including Library and Administration clearance). Permission slips are available at the front desk with Mrs. Venegas, in Ms. Castro’s office, or the ASB room. All Library fines must be paid in advance before the last day to buy tickets.

SENIOR DAY- at Knott’s will be held on Monday, June 3rd. Enjoy an all you can eat lunch and celebrate your upcoming graduation with your classmates!  The deadline to buy tickets has passed.  Permission slips have been delivered to 2nd period classes and are due by May 17th to the front desk with Mrs. Venegas.

SENIORS- If you are interested in performing a talent, poem, or song at Baccalaureate on May 26th at 2:30 PM at Purpose Church in Pomona, please come by Room 704 or Room 803 at break or lunch.

SENIORS- Grad Bash will be Friday, June 7th from 3 PM to 2 AM at Universal Studios Hollywood. Tickets are non-transferable and there will be no refunds issued. Please also be aware that there will be a drug dog and bag check upon entry.

 

ATHLETICS

TRACK AND FIELD Awards will be June 4th in Ketterling Court.   Tickets are $10 per family and payable in the finance office.  Seniors attend free.

CROSS COUNTRY- will  have a mandatory meeting tomorrow, May 15th at 3 PM in room 806 for all returning athletes and any Students looking to try out this year.

SWIM BANQUET- will take place on Friday, May 17th at 6 PM at New Song Church in San Dimas. Tickets are $10 for swimmer athletes and $15 for all other attendees. Tickets are available to purchase at the Finance office by tomorrow, May 10th. There will be no tickets sold at the door.

SPORTS PHYSICAL FUNDRAISER- BHS Athletics will be hosting a sports physical fundraiser at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center on Thursday, May 30th starting at 6 PM. Physicals will be $25 per athlete. Please email Mrs. Okayama at m.okayama@bonita.k12.ca.us to schedule your appointment. For all other questions, please see attached flyer.
