STUDENTS

 

STUDENTS & PARENTS –  Phase I registration for summer school is now open on the Bonita High School website.  During this first phase you can register for Art, World History, US History, Biology, Chemistry, Government/Economics, or makeup English.  Registration closes on Sunday, March 24th.

 

AP STUDENTS & PARENTS – Students have received registration information for this year’s AP exams.  Please read all the information on the green sheets and the process for payment of these exams.  Registration is open until March 20th.

 

STUDENTS Students that need help with their 2018 tax returns may see Mrs. Sekhri  in room 906.

 

STUDENTS –  Students are NOT TO PARK in the Roynan staff parking lot or across the street at Church of the Bretheran; vehicles will be cited and towed if they are parked in either of these lots.

 

STUDENTS & PARENTS-  We are no longer selling parking permits; the student parking lot is full.

 

 

PARENTS

 

FREE TAX HELP – If you had a job last year, get your taxes electronically filed FREE. Receive your refund within a few weeks. Mrs. Sekhri’s Accounting class is filing free tax returns for students and tax payers with income below $55,000.  Get an intake sheet from Mrs. Sekhri and bring it in along with your W-2, Social Security card, and if possible, a copy of last year’s tax return along with any 1099’s you received.

 

PARENTS- We do not accept drop off/forgotten items in the front office. If you need to get an item to your student, please coordinate with your child to meet in the school office during break or lunch. We will not be able to make exceptions. We appreciate your understanding.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS

 

ATTENTION SENIORSBHS PTSA Senior Scholarship applications are available.  This is a second chance for a scholarship from our local PTSA. Scholarships are being awarded up to $500.00 each.  Student eligibility: Must be graduating senior at BHS, Member of BHS PTSA by 4/1/19, going to a college, university, trade school, or tech school in the fall (2019), GPA 2.0, and have a history of volunteer service at school and/or in the community.  Application deadline 4/15/19. (See attachment for more information and applications).

 

ATTENTION SENIORS First District PTA Commemorative Scholarship applications are available.  Scholarships being awarded are in the amount of $750. Student eligibility:  Must be a 2019 graduating high school senior, resident of California, current member of Bonita PTSA in good standing, and plan to attend a college, university, trade or tech school in the fall (2019).  Deadline to turn in application is 3/22/19. (See attachment for more information and application).

 

ALL SENIORSThere are many scholarship opportunities available to seniors. Please see the attached Scholarship Newsletter and College Bound Scholarship 2019 document for the many available options as well as links to other sites offering help finding scholarships.

 

ACTIVITIES

 

8th ANNUAL AUTOSHOP CAR SHOW will be held on Saturday March 23rd from 9am to 1pm in the BHS student parking lot. General admission is FREE! Please come out and support the Automotive Technology Program! There will be classic cars, hot rods, motorcycles, food, music and more! See attached flyer for more details.

 

SENIORS & PARENTSSenior Day at Knott’s will be held on Monday June 3rd.  Enjoy an all you can eat lunch at Knott’s and enjoy the day with friends in the park. Ticket are being sold in the finance office for $75 until March 29th. Ticket prices will go up to $80 from April 8th to May 3rd. No tickets will be sold after May 3rd. Permission slips will be available on May 3rd and are due by May 17th and are to be turned in to the box at the front desk.

 

SENIORS & PARENTSGrad Bash ‘19 will be held Friday, June 7th, at Universal Studios. The check-in time at Bonita is 1:30pm and the bus will return at approximately 3:30am. Tickets cost $120.00 – final day to purchase a ticket is April 19th and this event does sell out! Permission slip & medical consent form must be turned in along with payment (check or cash only) to the Front Desk or Finance Office. This is a private event for 2019 graduates only.  Please see attached flyer with all the details about this special event!

 

PTSA

 

 

Bonita High School PTSA Association meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26th at 6:30 pm in the Conference Room located in the main office. All attendees will receive a Baskin Robins coupon and three lucky attendees will receive a Chick-fil-A gift card for a free sandwich! At this meeting the Executive Board for 2019-2020 will be voted into office. If you are a PTSA member, please come and vote! The following is the slate of officers that have been chosen by our nominating committee:

CAREER CENTER

 

JOB OPPORTUNITY – Seeking a tutor for elementary student who needs help writing and understanding English better (Chinese speaking family). If interested please email Peng Cao at cpmclancer@gmail.com

 

JOB OPPORTUNITY – Looking for a mother’s helper in La Verne to help care for a 6 month old baby. Mother is in need of someone to help entertain and care for baby while mother is home working. Preferably looking for someone who has had experience with little ones (could be with younger siblings or previous babysitting experience). This would be ideal for a high school student looking for some extra money this summer. Located about a mile from BHS. Must be willing to commit at least 4 hours a week. STUDENTS – Cal Poly Pomona is hosting an Engineering Outreach Event on April 27, 2019. This event will showcase what Cal Poly Pomona can offer future engineering students as well as various engineering clubs. STUDENTS- After school tutoring is available Monday through Thursdays until 3:45 and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 6pm-7. For more information please see Mrs. O’Grady in the Career Center.
