THURSDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2018 ~ Regular Day; Student Release 2:35pm

STUDENTS & PARENTS-  Final exams will take place on Thursday, December 20th for periods 1, 2 and 3, and Friday December 21st for periods 4, 6 and 7; both days student release is 12:00pm – please avoid removing students from school on these dates.   Any student absent on final exam days must take a make-up final exam on Wednesday, January 8 (for periods 1, 2 and 3) and/or Thursday, January 9 (for periods 4, 6 and 7).  These exams will take place in room P1 after school, or during period 7 for those with an open period,.  Final exams may not be taken before the December 20th date.

JUNIORS & PARENTS- How would you score on the SAT vs ACT?  Find out on Saturday January 12th.  Bonita High School is offering an SAT/ACT Combo Test to students looking to practice taking official college entrance exams. The $20 cost is a fundraiser through Kaplan Testing and space is limited to the first 70 students.  See attached registration form.

JUNIORS & PARENTS-  Bonita High School will be administering only to juniors the S.A.T. exam with essay on campus on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019.  The school district will be picking up the cost of this examination.  Juniors who plan on attending a 4-year university are encouraged to take this examination – they must complete the attached registration by December 12th – must also be signed by the parent.   This is a one-time opportunity to take the S.A.T. exam at no cost to the student – this is only available current to 11th grade students.  See attached flyer for additional details.

STUDENTS- Mt. SAC is offering  a dual enrollment opportunity for the FIRE 1 course.  This would be the first class needed in the Fire Certification and Technology Program and presents an opportunity to earn up to 3 CSU units free.  Please see the attached flier for details.

SENIOR PARENTS- check one item off your busy holiday to do list!  Friday December 7th is the final day to submit your senior’s dedication.  Please visit www.theyearbookcompany.com for information on how to submit your seniors’ dedication.  Space is limited.

JUNIOR PARENTS- Our plan is to again offer an on-campus Kaplan SAT Prep class, pending enrollment, starting in February on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  The class will end the week before the on-campus SAT exam for juniors on March 6th.  Because there is a reduced cost to

this class ($360), we will need 25 students to register – first priority is given to juniors.  Registration closes on January 22nd or when we reach the required number of 25 students – see attached flyer.

PARENTS- We do not accept drop off/forgotten items in the front office. If you need to get an item to your Student, please coordinate with your child to meet in the Office during break or lunch. We will not be able to make exceptions. We appreciate your understanding.

STUDENTS AND PARENTS- It is the time of year that the PTSA needs to elect the nominating committee.  This committee is very important, they interview and choose the candidates for next year’s Executive Board.  The nominating committee is the only PTSA committee that is not appointed by the president. This committee is elected by the membership at least two months prior to the election of officers. The committee needs a balance of newer and more experienced PTSA members, all of whom should be knowledgeable about PTSA and who are:

  • Aware of qualified potential nominees
  • Familiar with the eligibility requirements and the qualifications necessary for the offices to be filled
  • Willing and able to devote adequate time to the responsibilities involved and maintain confidentiality.

Student and teacher members are welcome as well!

The election of the nominating committee should not be a popularity contest based on willingness to serve nor should it consist of the PTA executive board. The PTA president never serves on the committee and the parliamentarian serves only when elected to serve. The principal may be elected but should at least be an advisor to the group. No person may serve on the committee for two consecutive years.

If you are interested in being on the nominating committee and feel you have the qualifications listed above, please contact Jen Graham at jgraham71@msn.com before the end of December.  The committee consists of three members and one alternate and is voted on at the association meeting in January.  You will be provided with instructions and each candidate for a position will be required to fill out an application which you will discuss and evaluate as a committee.

STUDENTS- After school tutoring is available Monday through Thursdays until 3:45 and Tuesday and Wednesday evenings 6pm-7. For more information please see Mrs. O’Grady in the Career Center.
