Compact Day- 1:35 PM Release

STUDENTS

STUDENTS AND PARENTS- We do not accept drop off/ forgotten items in the front office. If you need to get an item to your Student, please coordinate with your child to meet in the Office during break or lunch. See the attached bell schedule for times.

STUDENTS- As a reminder, cellphones are not to be used during class time. You are allowed to use them before school, during passing periods, lunch, and after school. Cellphones in use during class time will be collected for Parent pick up and a detention will be issued as well. All cellphones can be picked up by a Parent only with Miss Castro in the Front Office.

SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS- the PSAT/NMSQT will be administered here on campus on Wednesday, October 11th.  Registration is limited to 350 students – the $30 fee is payable in the Finance Office.  Last day to register is Friday, September 15th, or when all seats are taken. See attached application for details on registration and why it’s important to take this practice exam.

STUDENTS- We will be passing out lunch passes and parking permits today, September 6th at lunch in the Student Union. In order to receive your pass or permit, all fees owed to the finance office or library must be paid. Parking applications will be accepted until the spaces are sold out. Parking will be enforced starting today, September 6th.

STUDENTS- Off Campus lunch applications must be turned in by tomorrow, September 8th to receive an off campus lunch pass for first semester.

STUDENTS- Mrs. Sekhri is looking for Teacher aides for periods 2 and 3.  Please see her in room 906 at break or lunch if you are interested.

STUDENTS- Miss Holk is looking for Teacher aides for 1-2nd and 4-7th periods. Please see her at break or lunch in the Girls P.E. locker room if you are interested.

JUNIOR AND SENIOR STUDENTS- BHS and Kaplan Test Prep will be holding a Fall SAT prep class in preparation for the November 4th SAT here at BHS. The class will be Tuesdays and Thursdays starting October 10th through November 2nd. Cost is $360.00 and space is limited. Deadline to register is Friday, September 22nd. More information and Flyers are at the front desk with Mrs. Venegas.

STUDENTS- SAT/ACT Combo practice Test: Deciding between the SAT or ACT? Take Kaplan’s SAT and ACT Combo test to help you decide. The test is Saturday September 16th from 9:00 – 12:45pm. Cost is $20.00 and the deadline to register is Monday, September 11th. More information and flyers are at the front desk with Mrs. Venegas.

PARENTS

 

PARENTS- Boosters will be holding the first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 14th in the Library at 6:30 PM.

PARENTS OF SENIORS- If you did not get your portrait done over the summer, please make arrangements with PSS Photography before Saturday, October 14th in order to be included in the yearbook. Appointments can be made at (714) 630-7785. PSS Photography will require you come to them.

PARENTS OF SENIORS- The yearbook is currently accepting Senior Dedications at a special early bird price. If you are interested in purchasing a space in the yearbook for your senior, please visit https://theyearbookcompany.com to submit your information. It will prompt you to a page to order, please look for Bonita High School and enter our phone number, 909-971-8220 in order to access order page. Early bird pricing ends in November and space is first come first serve.

PARENTS- We have received quite a few questions about our parking permit process this year. If you are in need of some assistance, please visit bonitahigh.net and under “Latest BHS News” go to “Register for the 2017- 2018 School Year”. This will prompt you to the page where you are able to find the Parking Permit Contract. Please print, sign (by both Parent and Student) and return to the Office with Ms Castro.  In order for the contract to be valid, the Parking Permit Form must be completed online as well.

PARENTS- Please be advised that there is no pick up, drop off, or open parking in the south parking lot as this is an assigned staff parking lot. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

 

ACTIVITIES

SALVATION ARMY- This week we are collecting money to give to the Salvation Army to help the Families affected by the recent hurricanes. The Salvation Army gives 100% of your donation to the victims during times of crisis. You can give cash or checks payable to The Salvation Army in the Front Office, ASB Room, or the Library. We thank all of our Bearcats in advance for your generosity!

HOMECOMING- will be taking place on October 14th from 7- 11 PM at M3Live in Anaheim. Details to follow.

PREVIOUS DANCE STUDENTS- If you have dance shoes that you are willing to donate back to the dance department for other students to use please bring them to Mrs. O’Grady at break in the old gym any time in September.

DARE TO FAIR- the LA County Fair is coming back to town! Don’t miss out on your exclusive discounted rate ($8) on your City’s day. La Verne residents are able to purchase discounted tickets for Wednesday, September 13th and San Dimas Residents on Friday, September 15th. Please see the attached flyers for additional information.

CAREER CENTER

STUDENTS- All Students interested in becoming an after school tutor can now pick up an application in the Career Center during lunch.

 

PTSA

Bonita HS PTSA– would like to thank all families for your support.  If you are a current Bonita HS PTSA member please join us at our first association meeting of the year on September 12th at 6:30pm in the Main Office Conference Room.
