STUDENTS

STUDENT AND PARENTS- Pre- ACT:  We are extending the deadline to register for the Pre-ACT to be administered on Saturday, Feb. 4th at 8:00 AM.  This practice would be most helpful for freshmen and sophomores, but could also help those juniors who have not yet practiced for the ACT (Please note: this is not mock SAT/ACT that is being administered by Kaplan on Jan 28th.)  Cost of the pre-ACT is $20 and is payable in the Finance Office by next Wednesday, Jan. 25th.

STUDENTS- Our second College Night of the year will take place on Monday, January 23rd at 7:00 PM.  Students and parents will be able to attend two of the following 5 sessions: Private College Overview, College Readiness/A-G preparation, Community College Path & more, Exploring CTEC programs, and SAT/ACT test prep information.  See attached flyer for the list of locations.

SENIORS- Graduation will take place on Wednesday, June 7th, Glenn Davis Stadium at 6 PM. There will be more details to follow.

 

SENIORS- be sure to take advantage of PTA scholarship opportunities. There are three levels of PTA scholarships available to you at the state level, district level and here at Bonita High School. Deadlines are approaching fast. Applications can be picked up in the career center or online at the following links.

$750 Volunteer Service Scholarship. Deadline February 1, 2017, $500 Dr. Ralph E White Graduating Senior Scholarship.

First District PTA scholarship: www.pta1.org Deadline for submission is February 28, 2017 to the Bonita High School Career Center.

Bonita High School PTSA scholarship: Information will be posted in the bulletin and career center January 2017.

PARENTS AND STUDENTS- This Monday, January 23rd is a compact day with a 1:35 PM release time.

 

PARENTS AND STUDENTS- Our Spring recess will be April 3rd– April 7th. Students will return to school on Monday, April 10th which will be a compact day, 1:35 PM release.

 

PARENTS- Just as a reminder, there is no parking or drop off/pick up in the staff parking lot as they are assigned parking spaces.

 

PARENTS AND STUDENTS- Cell phones may be used on the BHS campus only before or after school hours, and during break or lunch, or passing periods. Use of such a device at any other time, or if it causes a classroom disruption, will result in confiscation.  This includes if you are out of class during class time. If seen, Campus supervisors will confiscate your phone.

ACTIVITIES

BAND- the Marching Bearcats are hosting The “Band on the Run” 5k Run/Walk at Heritage Park in La Verne on Saturday morning January 28th.  There is a reduced registration rate of only $10 for Bonita Students.  Flyers are available at the front desk. There will be a 1 mile fun run for children under 12 at 8:30am and the official 5k race kicks off at 9am.  There will be awards, food for purchase and music so come out and support the band program!

CAREER AND COLLEGE

 

CAREER CENTER-The ASVAB Career Exploration Program will be on January 24th.  This is a career path exam for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. It is also mandatory for entrance into all branches of the military. The ASVAB can help you take steps now toward finding a career or major
