BHS Achieves Most Challenging High School Honors

We are very excited to announce that Bonita High School has received two very prestigious honors this spring being named to US News and World Report’s “Best High Schools” and to the Washington Post’s “Most Challenging High Schools” lists.  Bonita ranked 1,216 in the nation on the “Best High School” list which places the school in the top 5% of High schools in the country.  On the “Most Challenging High Schools” list Bonita ranks 903 which placed us in the top 4% in the nation.

The two lists measure our students’ performance in different ways but both seek to evaluate how well schools prepare students academically with an emphasis on college readiness.

The Best High Schools list is based on the number of students who take and pass Advanced Placement tests and performance on the Academic Performance Index.  The selection process also evaluates the performance of disadvantaged students to make sure they are not being left behind.  The “Most Challenging High Schools” list is based on a ratio of the number of Advanced Placement Exams taken by all students compared to the number of seniors enrolled in the school.  Our schools placement on these lists is due to the hard work of our staff and students, the support of our students’ parents and the community as a whole.  We are very grateful for everyone who has worked so hard to make this success possible.
