“WHAT’S NEW”

STUDENTS- If you are interested in joining the Drumline for the fall season, tryouts will continue Thursday the 19th from 4pm to 8pm in the band room.

EVERYONE- On May 19th at 7:00pm, ALL 160 of our award-winning Bearcat Singers will present our annual Pop Show, “42nd Street Meets the Silver Screen!”, in the Bonita Center for the Arts. This year’s theme, “42nd Street Meets the Silver Screen!” will feature your favorite movie musical showstoppers performed by all 160 voices of Bonita’s award winning choral department, including selections from Grease, Mamma Mia, La La Land, Newsies, Jersey Boys, Hairspray, and Guys & Dolls. Enjoy the sounds of Chorale, Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers conducted by Director of Choral Music, Mr. Ryan Yoder and our live Pop Show Band! General Admission is $15. We hope you will join us this year to experience the music, costumes, and choreography in BHS Choral Music’s Pop Show “42nd Street Meets the Silver Screen!

 

STUDENTS- Auditions for next year’s Chamber Singers & Concert Choir will be on Thursday May 19th and Friday May 20th! Incoming Juniors and Seniors interested in joining these groups need to sign up for a 5-minute audition slot online using the QR Code on the Student Union door or through our social media @bonitachoralmusic. Both these choirs will be traveling on a performance tour across Hawaii next Spring! Incoming Sophomores can still sign up for Men’s Choir and Women’s Choir. Join our award-winning Bearcat Singers in 2022!

STUDENTS Hey runners! There will be an informational parent meeting for Cross Country on Tuesday, May 24th at 6:30 pm in the Old Gym for NEW and RETURNING runners. We will be going over the summer training program and plans for the upcoming season. Summer training will start up on Monday, June 13th and all runners must have their athletic clearance completed before they can participate. STUDENTS DSTREET tryout clinics will be held May 24th, 25th and 26th from 4-6pm.
Tryouts on Saturday, May 28th from 9-1pm.

EVERYONE- The Bonita High School Instrumental Music Department is proud to present their annual “Night at the Movies” Concert on Thursday, May 26th at 7pm at the Bonita Center for the Arts.  Tickets are on sale now at bonitacenterforthearts.com.

Night at the Movies is an amazing multi-media event where The Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble perform classic movie themes while the films are playing on the big screen.  You’ll see and hear some of your favorite scenes from movies like Back to the Future, The Incredibles, Avengers: Endgame, West Side Story, Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens, and Moana, so there will be something for everyone to enjoy!  Tickets are $10 and are on sale now at bonitacenterforthearts.com. Get your tickets today before they sell out!

STUDENTS AND PARENTS-The Finance office will no longer accept checks as of May 20th for the remainder of the school year. All items must be paid with cash or credit card. A 3% transaction fee will be added to all credit card transactions.

“SENIORS”

 

SENIOR PARENTS- The Class of 2022 will be graduating in Bonita’s stadium on June 9th. If you would like to purchase a graduation flower lei or kukui nut lei for your graduate, they are available at: https://www.thecommencementgroup.com/bonita/

At graduation you will be able to pick up your items inside the stadium. Students will not be allowed to wear any flowers or leis during the ceremony, once the ceremony is over they can wear flower leis, etc.  If you have questions, please contact Julie Pocino at j.pocino@bonita.k12.ca.us

“BHS NEWS”

 

PARENTS/STUDENTS- We do not accept drop off or forgotten items in the front office. We are unable to call students out of class and disrupt classrooms for drop offs. It is the responsibility of the party dropping off items to get ahold of the student and coordinate a pick up time in the main office during passing periods, break or lunch. We will not be able to make any exceptions. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

PARENTS AND GUARDIANS- Please see the attached California School Parent Survey letter.  The letter explains the survey and at the bottom of the page, provides your URL and access instructions.  Your participation is voluntary.

PARENTS/STUDENTS- Bonita USD has again partnered with Paper – this means students in grades 3 -12 now have access to on-demand, high-quality academic support 24/7. Through Paper, students can speak to a tutor anytime, anywhere for free. Students already have access through Clever, https://clever.com/in/busd

 

STUDENTS AND PARENTS- Our Peer Tutoring Hours are Monday – Thursday 2:45pm – 3:45pm (1:45pm – 2:45pm on Compact Days) in the Library AND Monday – Thursday 6:00pm – 7:00pm Via ZOOM!!

NO APPOINTMENTS NEEDED!!! Just show up!!!

Attention all students/parents:

Please remember that we have a school dress code that is available on this bulletin.  As the weather gets warmer, please remember:

Clothing that may be considered inappropriate include, but are not limited to, skirts and shorts that do not cover the posterior at all times, halter tops, tube tops, off-the-shoulder tops, and bare midriffs.  Tank tops must have a strap on each side and over the entire torso.

STUDENTS– are not permitted to loiter, mingle, eat lunch and set out chairs in the parking lot at lunch so that we may maintain the safety of everyone.

 

“SUMMER SCHOOL”

STUDENTS- Summer school begins on June 13th through July 15th. There will be no school on June 20th (Juneteenth Holiday) and July 4th (Independence Day Holiday).  The hours are 7:30am to 1:15pm, Monday through Friday.

“BHS ATHLETICS”

STUDENTS- Volleyball tryouts for current Bearcats will be held on May 24th from 4-6:00pm in the gym. Please make sure you have a new updated physical for the 2022-2023 year.

SAVE THE DATE- Pre-participation Physical Exams will be held on campus for athletes on Monday, June 6th starting at 3:30pm. Cost is $35, CASH ONLY. Please see attached information for time slots.
