Randy Bell, a retired LA County Deputy who now teaches Law Enforcement classes at Bonita High School and his Ethics and Integrity in Policing class, put together a community service event that was held on Saturday, January 13th. The event was dedicated to cleaning up San Dimas Canyon Road starting from the east end of San Dimas Canyon Park all the way up to the dam. His class of 36 students proceeded up the road and removed trash and debris to bring back the beauty of this pristine canyon. Captain Berg from San Dimas and Chief Paz from La Verne Police Department (LVPD) as well as day shift personnel from both stations were invited to attend the pancake breakfast that kicked off the event at 0700 hours. This event helps to train future law enforcement candidates about community awareness and playing an active role in their community beyond the call of duty. The La Verne retired senior volunteer patrol personnel provided safe traffic control for the students and the day went off without a hitch.
