Bonita High School Advanced Art students are top 50 finalists in the Vans Custom Culture art competition. In the next round, a public vote will determine the top five schools. Voting starts April 24 and runs until May 10.
Students, including Sadie R, Maggie B, and Tommy A, customized pairs of white Vans sneakers according to four themes: music, art, action sports and local flavor.The final event of the competition takes place in June. Five finalist schools will get an all expense paid trip to Los Angeles to showcase four shoe designs each to a panel of celebrity judges.
This is to win the grand prize of a $50,000 donation to the art department. The winner also gets the potential for one of the designs to be sold at Vans retail locations. The four runners up will receive $4,000 to go toward their art department.
