About Me
Welcome to my page at Bonita High School. I am so excited to be starting another year, teaching math, with the Bearcat Family. I'll be teaching Integrated Math 1 and 2 for the 2018-2019 school year. My students will become better problem solvers and communicators by learning collaboratively in my class!
Truth be told, I was not a strong math student in school; in fact, I started college as a fine art major and thought I would paint my way through life. As luck would have it, after graduating high school, one of my first jobs was a teacher's assistant in a high school math classroom. I realized that I needed to learn the math if I was going to help anyone understand it. It was then that I fell in love with teaching math. I quickly changed my major from Fine Art and pursued my Bachelor's of Science in Mathematics with an emphasis in Secondary Education at Cal Poly Pomona. I earned my teaching credential at Azusa Pacific University and will receive my Master's in Education this coming spring.
My strength in teaching math comes from my struggles as a student. I understand why students find math challenging because I struggled too. In my journey I have fallen in love with math and want my students to see the beauty and purpose of the subject. Math is not just about finding the answer but solving a problem. I hope to inspire my students to be successful in math; all it takes is a little "grit."
In addition to being a teacher, I am a proud Army wife and mom of two beautiful boys. I am grateful for the life God has given me and I strive to serve Him by making a positive impact in the lives of my students.
