Assignment 2 of 3: Q31 - Mixed Volume Practice

1. Please take out a sheet of paper or new page of notes and title it Q31 - Mixed Volume Practice. Put your name at the top in colored ink. You should have your chapter 11 notes out, so you can access all of the volume formulas needed for this assignment.

2. Complete the assignment with the same title in Delta math. There are 7 problems total that need to be correct. For each problem, you can sketch out/label or you can just state the dimensions (ex. radius = 4) and show all work from there.

** For problems involving pi in the formula (cylinders/cones/spheres), your answer will not be correct if you multiply by 3.14 in place of pi. Use the pi button on your calculator to get a more accurate answer. Pay attention to how they want the answer (nearest tenth, nearest hundredth, etc).

Let me know if you have any questions!

Assignment 4 of 4: Q22 - Volume Practice

1. Title your page (notes or loose leaf) Q22 - Volume Practice. This assignment will be completed in Delta Math.
2. There are 10 problems total and 2 skills being practiced, which means you need 5 of each skill to be correct.
3. Work needs to be shown for all 10 problems in a clean, organized way and submitted via Google Classroom for credit. Please refer to your notes/videos from the previous lessons this week if you need a refresher.

**Remember - the volume of a prism formula is the AREA of the base (i.e. if base is a circle, use circle formula and if it is a triangular prism, then use the formula for area of a triangle to find base area) multiplied by the HEIGHT of the prism (height is the distance between the bases, even if the prism is on its side).

Assignment 3 of 4: Q17 - Quadratics and Polygon Area Review

1. Start a new page of notes and title it Q17 - Quadratics and Polygon Area Review. Today we will be reviewing 2 important concepts we’ve learned: finding the area of regular polygons (Ch. 8) and solving quadratics (Ch. 5)

2. It will be important today to review some of our notes from last quarter. Look for your notes for lesson 8.2.2 “Areas of Regular Polygons”. Also, pg. 460 in your textbook has similar information if you’d like to review them also. Now open to pg. 444 and do problem #8-37 on the right side of your notes. Give it your best effort. You have the step by step for how to find the area of a polygon in your 8.2.2 notes. We will review the solution next week.

3. Flip through your notebook through Chapter 5. Specifically, find the lessons that talk about Zero Product Property, Completing the Square, and Quadratic Formula. You may need these notes to help you today. Open your textbook to pg. 748 and do problem #13 and 17. You decide which method you want to use to solve. State which method you are using and why you chose that method.

4. It’s expected that you can solve quadratics really well at this point. If you’re still struggling, pg. 748 has lots of examples you can work through to study. We will review the solutions next week. The answers are below the problem set, so you can self assess.

5. Take a picture of your work with your name in colored ink at the top and submit via Google Classroom. Let me know if you have any questions.

Happy Monday Integrated 2! There are 4 things that I am assigning for the week. I will post them all today within the next hour, so you can work through at your convenience, but they are intended to do IN ORDER, so please complete them in order. We are starting new material this week and taking it slow. All assignments are due by Sunday at midnight.

I will be working this morning on getting the assignments from last week into the grade book. Moving forward, I will be placing all assignments into a 0% category and you will receive 1 point if you complete it (acceptable by me) and a 0 if you do not turn it in or the work is not acceptable (did not follow directions, did not show work, etc). This is in line with the letter you should have received from Mr. Ritchie. What this also means is that you will NOT see your grade move up going forward as that calculation will happen at the end of the semester, but if you are staying on track with the assignments and turning in acceptable work, then you are fine. Given that we are in a credit or no credit situation, it is very important that you follow each direction. I give you very specific directions, so before you submit, do a once over to make sure it's good to go.

Once I have updated the grade book today, that will be your baseline grade, which means that your grade cannot go lower. Per Mr. Ritchie's letter, from today through the end of the year, if you complete 80% of the work I assign (acceptable by me), then you will move up a letter grade (i.e. if you have a C- then you move up to a B-). If you currently have an A, then you will stay in the A range (although an A- can get ride of the minus).

If you have an A, yes you are currently in the best spot that you can be, but the new material and review of quadratics will help prepare you for Integrated 3.

I will (hopefully) start to grade in Google Classroom this week because I just learned how and that I can upload those grades to Aeries each Monday. Let me know if you have any questions and be on the lookout for your assignments!

Q6 - Circle Equations

Assigned in Delta math. In order to receive credit, you need to complete the problems on a separate sheet of paper with your name written on the top in colored pen, as well as putting your answers in Delta Math. All work must be shown for all problems in order to receive credit. Please refer to your notes from 10.1.1 and 10.1.2 for these problems.

I have reattached the video from yesterday's assignment explaining how to complete the square twice to write the equation of the circle if needed as a refresher. You need to write the equation in graphing form first to determine the center and the radius. 10 problems need to be correct - 4 of one skill and 6 of the other.

This is your last assignment of the week!

Q3 - Factoring Review

This will be completed in Delta Math. No need to write anything in your notebooks. Please log in to your Delta Math account and complete the assignment titled Q3 - Factoring Review. Most of you already have delta math accounts that you created. For those that were absent that day, please see attached instructions. I have also attached a factoring review video if needed.

** you have 2 attempts at each problem. You need to get 10 problems correct in order to receive full credit. This means it may take you trying more than 10 problems to get the 10 correct.

1. Start a new page of notes and title the page : Q2 - Solving Quadratic Equations Practice
**The Q is for Quarantine FYI**

2. Open your textbook to pg. 589 and do problem #10-112 on the left page of your notes. You may want to reference the notes you took in Chapter 5 to help you. Use the following method for each problem:
a) Factoring & Zero Product Property
b) Quadratic Formula
c) Completing the Square
d) Factoring & Zero Product Property
Meaning use ZPP to solve problem (a), quadratic formula to solve problem (b), and so on. Mr. Varnes made a couple of videos on factoring and solving quadratics that I have attached links to if you need to freshen up on any of those skills. I will be assigning a good amount of quadratics review during these remaining weeks because it is so important to have a solid understanding of these when entering Integrated 3.

3. When you finish #10-112, turn to pg. 747 in your textbook and read through Example 3. Copy it in your notes.

4. Take out a different colored pen and get ready to correct your work. Check your work for #10-112; the solutions are located on the bottom of pg. 747 and the top of 748.

*Important Notes*

1. Please delete your previous google classroom for my class. Given the current situation, I created new Google Classrooms for each period. Please see new codes below and sign up for your correct class.

Period 1: r3dgorg
Period 3: efu54io

2. The assignments for each week will be due each Sunday. This includes book work and any Delta Math assignments. No late work will be accepted. Book work assignments need to be submitted via Google classroom under the correct assignment.
3. In order to receive credit - name must be written at the top in colored pen or marker. Work must be clear. **ANY ASSIGNMENTS TURNED IN THAT DO NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, ARE INCOMPLETE, OR SLOPPY WILL RECEIVE 'NA' IN THE GRADEBOOK**
4. Checkpoint assignments are due this Sunday. Please submit through Google Classroom if you do not see credit in the gradebook already.
5. Assignments will be posted on Google Classroom and copied to this website as well, meaning you can access everything you need in google classroom and do not need to keep checking both. I will continue to keep the BHS website updated for students and parents.

Hello Everyone!

I miss seeing all of your wonderful faces! I hope you have all gotten some rest, stayed connected to friends/loved ones, and stayed healthy. My kids have kept me super busy and I watch a lot of Coco. In my free time, I have continued to study for my (postponed) calculus test and I have restarted my Netflix subscription to watch Tiger King. I have seen them all and I'm ready to talk about it as soon as we get back. I also downloaded Tik Tok because I thought it would be really cool to surprise you all with doing one. I became hooked as soon as I downloaded it and watched it for 3 hours straight. I watched several Tik toks that said "you know you are too old for tik tok if you are watching it for several hours," yet I kept going (persevered). The dances are so cool and I could watch the stair shuffle a million times. I had to delete the app the next morning otherwise I would actually watch a million stair shuffles.

I know this is a weird time, but it WILL pass and I encourage you to find the silver lining where you can and find a way to "reset." In addition to your assignments, your daily homework consists of the following:

- Develop a healthy sleeping schedule, if you have not done so already
- Stay connected to friends/family! (I have several Zoom hangouts per week and I swear it makes a difference in staying connected)
- Try to disconnect from social media (yes even tik tok and I 100% understand how hard that is) and the news cycles throughout the day
- Drink water!

The focus for this week is a more structured review and we will go back into Chapter 10 next week. The general instructions for how to create and submit your work is here (may need to copy and paste into browser):
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1nbmpQa1810GVIL6pFyT-tUtG9RpRgV4W0q0Rq3B7RZA/edit?usp=sharing

It is important that you follow the directions correctly in order to receive credit. Please keep checking back on this school website daily (Mon-Fri). Beginning on Wednesday, whatever I post on this website, I will also post on Google Classroom because I know you are using that for other classes and want to make it more efficient for you.

Today's Assignment:
1. Open to a new page of notes and Title the page: Q1 = Circumference, Area, and Arc Length Practice
2. Open your textbook to pg. 466 and read the Math Notes box regarding Area of Circles, Circumference, and Arc Length. Take notes on what you read.
3. Do problem #8-81 from pg. 460.
4. Take out a different colored pen and get ready to correct your work. Check your solution using this link:
https://homework.cpm.org/category/CCI_CT/textbook/int2/chapter/8/lesson/8.4.1/problem/8-81

Please let me know if you have any questions!
